Afrizona is a powerful yet beautiful recording featuring Lionel Loueke: guitar-vocals-bass, Dom Moio: drums, Jim Stinnett: bass, and Rob Gourlay: bass. In this session the empathy is high and the music is sweet. A pleasant mixture of original compositions and standards comprise the tune list.

Lionel Loueke has quickly established himself as a premier new talent on the jazz scene today. Lionel has recently been featured on tours and recordings with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Charlie Haden, Terrence Blanchard, as well as his own group.

Dom Moio is an outstanding musician who happens to play the drum set. Dom's sensitive and propulsive accompaniment is matched by his delightful solos throughout the recording.

Splitting the bass chair, Jim Stinnett and Rob Gourlay both play acoustic bass, electric bass, melody, bass line, solo, and chordal accompaniment. The sound of multiple bass tracks lends to an organic sound and a warm texture. Notice the numerous basses on Conference Of The Birds.
